Fuerza Latina x Natives at Harvard College: Exploring Environmental Rights in Indigenous Communities

Together, we will watch a film that highlights communities fighting for environmental rights. After the film, we will go into a discussion of our takeaways.

Pacific Islanders x Hawaii Club: Lei Making and Climate Change in the Pacific

We will discuss the impacts of climate change on Pacific Islander practices and foods. While watching a film about Pacific Islander culture, we will learn how to make ti leaf lei! Food from Manoa Poke will be provided!

Harvard Hillel: Environmental Activism Shabbat

Join Harvard Hillel in discussing Environmental Activism over a Friday night Shabbat dinner! Learn about how religion and environmental movements intersect while enjoying matzah ball soup and other Jewish delicacies.

Harvard Climate Coalition: “Hidden in Plain Sight” Documentary Screening and Q&A with Filmmaker Rachel Levy (AB ‘22)

Come watch a film made by a Harvard alumni on eco-tourism in Tanzania. THe screening will be followed with a Q&A with Rachel, who is still working in the environmental justice film space. Refreshments provided!

Woodbridge Society: International Earth Day Celebration!

Join us for a group bike ride around campus and then a picnic on the river afterwards!

HUEJ: Environmental Racism

The goal of this workshop is to spark discussion amongst students about the ways in which environmental racism impacts people of color and marginalized communities lives.

EAC x HUEJ x Latinas Unidas: Clothing Swap

Have clothes you don’t wear? Too tired to go to the Garment District? Join the Environmental Action Committee on April 21st anytime from 12:00-4:00 pm to trade in your old clothing for new items! The clothing swap will take place in the Shepard Room of PBHA, and you can feel free to stop by anytime we are open for swapping. We are also open to take your clothes if you would like to simply donate them, there will be a box inside of PBHA during the entirety of Earth Week. Questions? Reach out to eac@pbha.org!

Join us for an Earth Day Festival! Bring everyday items you no longer need and pick up stuff for free at a Freecycle hosted by the Resource Efficiency Program & Harvard Recycling. No donation is required to shop! Have electronics to recycle? Harvard University Information Technology will collect them! Bring your bike to be checked up and commute safely and sustainably back home. Learn from and connect with Harvard groups tabling at the event.

This conference seeks to bring staff, faculty and undergraduates together to celebrate social-justice focused scholarship, and reflective learning. The purpose of this conference is: to honor scholarship which focuses on challenges facing society with regard to equity and inclusion and historically marginalized and under-represented communities; to illuminate community-engaged research which reflects qualities of reciprocity and mutuality in the co-creation of scholarship, in addition to being transdisciplinary and inclusive of knowledge from outside the academy. to provide undergraduate researchers an opportunity to engage in academic discourse and research dissemination. HUEJ: BioBlitz

Join HUEJ members and the founders of the Harvard Undergraduate Biodiversity Project to engage in community science and collect data about biodiversity on Harvard's own campus! Learn about native and invasive species, learn to look closely at the world around you, and contribute to an ongoing database of ecological data. We will be doing our BioBlitz in the green space behind the Science and Engineering Complex (150 Western Ave, Boston (Allston), MA) from 3-5pm on Sunday, August 21st (weather permitting). No prior experience required, just come with a charged cell phone, and download the iNaturalist app.

Food 4 Thought 2024 is a first-of-its-kind, 100% student-run food festival bringing together students from global universities to envision the future of the food system. Over the course of three days, F4T will feature speakers, thought leaders, researchers, food vendors, and alternative protein companies from across Boston and around the world. Through impactful panels, workshops, and fairs, the festival aims to give students and other attendees the tools and knowledge to help shape the future of food to be more sustainable, equitable, healthy, and cruelty-free. Kannan Thiruvengadam: Ecological Tour at the Belle Isle Marsh in East Boston

Led by Harvard Fellow Kannan and faculty at the Department of Conservation and Recreation of Massachusetts, participants will rediscover the beauty of the Belle Isle marsh. Inspired by Dr. Jane Goodall “Only if we understand, can we care. Only if we care, we will help. Only if we help, we shall be saved,” we will be appreciating the marsh and its nearby community in lieu of talking about the marsh’s ecosystems, how it is affected by climate change, and how it connects Boston city, its people, and its valuation. This trip is for everyone. The walk will be about 1.5 miles in total. Participants are encouraged to bring their own food for picnicking.
